The Bevans in reality are just teenagers. All right, - somewhat advanced in years – a little – prematurely – that maturity happened to them without them really noticing, so it doesn’t count, right? Oh all right, The Bevans are really teenagers at heart.

‘Backbeat’, is the Bevans revisiting their teenage years, early teenage years to boot, and recreating the records that inspired them. The records that inspired them to disappear into their bedrooms for days on end to practice on their instruments and to learn the songs. On a recent visit, by singer and guitarist Denny Bridges, to his old haunt in England, the neighbors informed him how they collectively endured the "noise" - which apparently at times it was. So, he thinks The Bevans should now make their neighbor’s suffering, and tacit support, count for something.

“It’s been a great while,” says Denny, “since I played these and other songs in scout huts and church halls”. In the interim Denny has, amongst other things, been playing light jazz and standards for cruise ship guests and, when on land, for the retirement set. “Now it’s the Mods and Rockers that are cruising and they are the folks at the golf clubs. These songs today are nostalgia for then - their youth,” he says. “Also, the freshness of these songs and energy of this recording appeals to youngsters today and The Bevans, being of the same age group (Ahem) are the ‘lads’ to bring it to them”.
